The Ohio University Singers released a new CD highlighting their accomplishments and favorite moments of the past seven years.
We wanted to share with people who had experienced (the songs) both on the singing side and the listening side
and give them a chance to hear them again said Peter Jarjisian, the group's conductor.
The CD, titled Ohio University Singers: Live in Concert is a first for the group, which has performed in countries such as Austria and Germany.
Krista Voorhees, a graduate assistant and music major, sings a solo in Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine. She said that the CD summarizes her entire time in OU's School of Music because she is in nearly every song.
Voorhees said she considers it a nice keepsake, not only for herself, but for all those who want to show other people the university they attended.
Jarjisian said one of his favorite moments on the CD is the beginning of the song I thank You God for most this amazing day. The song is so beautiful, he said, that it makes the hair stand up on the back of his neck.
The CD, approximately 80 minutes in length, is a collection of the group's 20 best live recorded performances. The songs, including American folk music and spirituals, were preformed by more than 200 current students, local residents and alumni.
All students like good music
said Lauren Hannay, a junior music education major. There are no bad songs on the CD. It is the best of the best.
The CD is available for $15 at Little Professor Bookstore, 65 S. Court St., College Bookstore, 50 S. Court St., and Robert Glidden Hall Room 497.
