Thanks for Maggie Kostendt's column, Getting Spirituality
in Wednesday's Post. I think she hits two different nails right on the head when she writes early in the piece, the campus of a highly-rated party school is not a likely hot spot for discussions about spiritual enlightenment and near the end, spiritual revival is not universal and it may not even be very local. But a longing for the transcendent is.
On its face, Athens and OU culture can seem as materialistic and shallow as anywhere else, but scratch the surface and you find much more going on in the heads and hearts of students and community members. The depths of passion, commitment and spirituality I see in students and residents continues to amaze me.
