Iran? Not interested. Iraq? Too bleak. Elections? Please.
The topic on everyone's mind is the massive drop in gas prices. After months of suffering through $3 per gallon ' though with little car culture adjustment ' prices have plunged to a little above $2.
It's a welcome break from the oil cartel, which reported record profits while blaming the prices on Middle East tension and the loss of crude supply from the Gulf region. Little was done to the corporations, though the average citizen was outraged at the lack of Congressional reproving. Now, the anger is quelled.
But it won't last.
Not long after this election cycle ends, which is no coincidence, gas will rise again as demand grows to heat homes. Apparently, the machinations to lower the prices exist, but it only happens when someone in power can get something out of it, like votes. Conspiracy theories aside, Americans shouldn't expect too much from this respite because the gas price cycle will soon be back to outlandish.
