The Ohio lacrosse team's offense will gain more support and experience this spring as the Bobcats added a new assistant coach to the staff.Head coach Allison Valentino announced that Paula Habel was added to the coaching staff last month after Habel was recommended to her.One of my coaching colleagues recommended her to me and I was really excited about all the experience she already has
Valentino said. Her experience as a head coach of a successful team will benefit her and help our program. Before coming to Athens, Habel coached the Plymouth State Panthers, a Division III team, to a 26-11 record over two seasons. Her success also included a trip to the NCAA Tournament and she was named the Little East Conference Coach of the Year.Habel has already started interacting with the players and Valentino said that Habel's offensive mindset and personality will help the team improve. I've met all the girls and everyone is excited to get going next week with practices and start getting better Habel said. The team is very excited and that is important they want to get back into the groove of practicing and getting better. While arriving in Athens just three weeks ago Habel already has plans on making the team's offense well rounded and more threatening. Offensively
I think it is important all seven on the attacking end are equal threats
Habel said. So if we build up each attacker to be strong and have an arsenal of threats then teams won't be able to shut us down. One reason Habel was interested in the position at Ohio was the work ethic of Valentino and the team to improve. Habel not only was impressed with the goals of the lacrosse team, but the entire athletic program at Ohio. This is a great little college town with a good team and great athletics all around
and I can agree with the message and direction Allison wants to go along with the entire athletics program as a whole
Habel said. This spring, the Bobcats will look to improve on last season's record of 4-12.
