Athens may have several pacifistic Buddhists, but how many of them can say they've collaborated and toured with the Dave Matthews Band? Tim Reynolds boasts both of these things and will be in Athens tonight to pave a musical road wrought with twists and dissonance.
Reynolds' publicist Lisa Farber said he brings a deep, soulful and innovative sound to his performances. This entire tour, Farber said, will feature just Reynolds and his acoustic guitar. Even though he can pick up nearly any instrument and make it sizzle, Farber said Reynolds likes to mix things up on his tours.
After [Reynolds] does something for a while
he likes to shake it up she said.
Self-taught since he was young, Reynolds' proficiency with instruments is almost as wide as the styles he plays. From jazz to psychedelic rock to funk to classical, Reynolds has done it all and more, on instruments ranging from bass guitar to solo djembe, which is a large, goblet-like drum played with the hands.
This is Reynolds' second trip in two years because he likes playing here Farber said. If someone is looking for some great music, they need look no further than Athens, she said.
If people want to have a good time
Farber said, they should come see Tim Reynolds. Next to James Brown
he's one of the most entertaining acts around.
