Fresh off impressive All-Ohio Championship performances, the Ohio cross country teams will look to assert themselves nationally as they compete in Pre-Nationals at Terra Haute, Ind.
The meet, which will be run on the same built-for-cross-country course that hosts the NCAA Nationals, will feature a wide variety of talent.
Most of the top teams in the nation will be (at the meet)
Ohio coach Clay Calkins said.
The Pre-National meet concept does a lot more than just enable runners to see and get a feel for the Nationals course though, Calkins said. Not only do you get a chance to look at the terrain but you get a chance to compete with the higher-level athletes.
The more opportunities they get to compete with the various level of athletes, they can see what it takes to get to the next level and work to that level.
Sophomore Shamus Eaton echoed Calkins' opinion of being able to run against the best athletes.
Basically, this meet is a chance for every team in the country to gauge where they're at, Eaton said.
The meet will feature two seeded races on both the men's and women's sides and will have an open race on both sides. The race placements have not been announced yet but Calkins said he expects at least the women to be placed in a seeded race.
While the meet isn't a qualifier of any kind
it is important nonetheless as teams and individuals work to build up their credentials in the national spotlight in hopes of getting an at-large bid to nationals.
This meet gives the men and women who have an individual shot at nationals G
which has made it a goal to qualify for the NCAA National meet this year
will especially benefit from this weekend's meet.
I think (this meet) is a good experience, especially for the freshmen to go against that type of competition and see what's out there, junior Carime Reinhart said. For the team, we will see where we are at compared to nationally ranked teams.",",17,Archives,Justin Whelan,",",",",",","

it's the best place for a quick cup of coffee to fight off morning fatigue
the easiest spot to stop for a quick bite in between classes and the most convenient location to get lunch or dinner amid a busy day.
But if a new plan proposed by the university goes through
The Oasis will become a whole food and computer store. The matching is ridiculous and illogical
as if the university pulled two categories out of a hat and decided to just combine them.
This is a continuation of the trend to drop options for students with meal plans. First
it was dining halls not opening on the weekends
