The Ohio women's cross country team overcame bad weather and dominated the competition Saturday in Buffalo clinching its ninth Mid-American Conference championship.
Led by junior Carime Reinhart, the Ohio women finished its top five runners in the top 15, giving the team a score of 37. In second place was Bowling Green, that tallied 113 points.
The women could not have run any better
Ohio coach Clay Calkins said. They ran a great team race overcame adversity and ran through some of the worst weather conditions I've seen as a coach.
Reinhart finished first among the 101 MAC competitors, as she completed the 5k course with a time of 20:02.9, winning by 35 seconds.
Next for Ohio was senior Andrea Maas, who took third place. Kari Summers finished sixth, Annie Beecham, 12th, and Rachel Beakas, 15th, rounding out Ohio's top-five finishers.
Reinhart, Maas and Summers were all named to the First Team All-MAC, while Beecham was honored on the Second Team.

Second Team All-MAC is great too.
This is Reinhart's third year being named to the First Team All-MAC, as she finished fourth in 2005 and fifth in 2004. This is also Maas's second year being First Team All-MAC.
On the men's side, the young Bobcats accomplished their goal of a top-five finish as they grabbed fifth place.Senior Brian King led the way for the Bobcats, with a 13th place finish.
Close behind him was sophomore Shamus Eaton, who finished 16th, just six seconds behind King.
Eastern Michigan won the men's meet with 23 points, as its top five runners all finished in the top 10. Ohio scored 148 points as a team.
The Ohio men's team, however, was able to showcase its young talent at the meet, as the all of the team's remaining top seven finishers were freshmen. Led by Ridge Robinson, the Ohio freshmen class all finished in the top 50.
With a Second-Team All-MAC nod, King earned All-MAC honors for the first time in his career.
After the meet, Calkins was named MAC Women's Coach of the Year, and Eastern Michigan's John Goodridge received the honor on the men's side.After having another weekend off, the Bobcats will be back in action at the NCAA Regionals in Bowling Green on Nov. 11.
