This letter is in response to your correction printed on Issue 3 and in direct response to your editorial regarding the Athens County Board of Elections' laziness.
As of Thursday, you printed a correction for a front page mistake you made with regards to the results for Ohio State Issue 3. I can't help but ask, who is the lazy person at The Post that neglected to catch such a costly mistake? Those of us students and community members who read The Post rely on such a media outlet as a credible source of information, but maybe we ought to start looking elsewhere for our information.
Making a mistake is only human, but to attack the Board of Elections for being lazy is ignorant. I was the observer for the Board of Elections and was exposed to much of the difficulties encountered that evening and can assure you and your staff that there was not one person inside those walls who was not working diligently to fix the problem.
You complained and more or less whined about not having results before you went to print, but even if you had the chance to print the final results in your Wednesday edition, would you have reported such news correctly? Probably not, as we've learned from your correction today that you were unable to print accurate information when it was available to you.
Finally, you also printed Richard Cordray's name incorrectly. You forgot the second R. I suggest that you look to your own mistakes and malfunctions before placing blame elsewhere. The BOE employees work hard day in and day out to assure fair and adequate elections, and shame on you for accusing otherwise.Amy Flowers is a member of Athens City Council.
