Ohio University Police officers arrested an Athens man and charged him with four counts of felony possession of heroin, LSD, illegal mushrooms and drug paraphernalia.
Stephen Geisler, 44, pleaded not guilty yesterday to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possessing criminal tools and a traffic violation.
The charges stem from a Wednesday incident in which police pulled Geisler over for traveling the wrong way on Park Place in front of Alden Library and proceeded to search his minivan after smelling the odor of marijuana, according to police reports.
Michael Miller, city prosecutor, said the felony charges will be tried in Athens County Court of Common Pleas, though nothing has been filed with that court.
More charges could be filed as soon as lab results come back, which is standard for drug-related offenses, Miller said.
