There are a lot of things that junior Tyler Post could do for six hours tomorrow before a meet, but taking a bus ride to Buffalo wouldn't exactly top his list.
Yet, that is what Post and his teammates must do before they face-off against Buffalo at 1 p.m. tomorrow. Making matters even worse is that the Ohio men's team is coming off a six-week hiatus from competition.
It's a six-hour drive
which none of us are thrilled about but we're also really excited about the meet Post said. Anything that we would lose physically with the long bus ride
I think we're going to gain with just the adrenaline rush.
Buffalo (3-0, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) is in a three-way tie for first place in the MAC and, like Ohio, has not swam in a meet since the Akron Invitational on Dec. 3.
Coach Greg Werner said he believes that Buffalo will be a difficult test for his team.
Unfortunately Buffalo is a very good team so we don't have any room for error
Werner said. We anticipate that this is going to go down to the last relay.
The women will also take the long bus ride to Buffalo tomorrow, but will make a pit stop in Youngstown to face the Penguins today at 4 p.m.
Junior Ashley Marion said she thinks that the long bus ride could affect the team.
The traveling tires us out a little bit. I think for any team it would
Marion said. I think it could definitely affect you if you think about it.
The Bulls (2-6, 0-4 MAC) coach Andy Bashor was a graduate assistant under Werner for two seasons and is familiar with Ohio's coaching style. Buffalo started out sluggishly after losing its first four meets, but the Bulls have come on strong lately, winning their past two.
Youngstown State (2-2) has not lost at home this season and will be a dangerous team, especially if Ohio looks past them to their conference clash with Buffalo. Werner said that the Penguins have improved and the Bobcats must come prepared.
Marion said she thinks both meets will be tough and should provide Ohio with a good challenge.
I think they are both going to be challenging
Marion said. I think it will be exciting. I think it will be two good races.
