A different sound: OU student, traditional Chinese instrument bring music to the air

Second-year graduate student Tsun-Hui Hung rehearses for her upcoming recital Sunday. Hung has been playing the erhu, a traditional Chinese fiddle with two strings, since she was 10 years old. The instrument is made partially out of snakeskin, making it too fragile to take outside during the cold weather.

To me

it's not just about the music but about my culture and the sense of music that I brought from my country Hung said.

The concert will be a blend of traditional Chinese music and modern pieces, accompanied by an explanation of the tradition and history of the erhu. The recital will be at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Ohio University School of Music Recital Hall.
