Out of first place by a razor-thin margin, Ohio is looking for anyone to give it an extra advantage for the last two days of competition, even the delivery guy.
Instead of going out to eat, Ohio had their food delivered to the hotel so they could head to bed early after finishing the second day of the Mid-American Conference Championships, just 33 points behind first-place Eastern Michigan.
There is still two full days of competitions left. That (33-point deficit) could be the difference between two swims
coach Greg Werner said. The team that goes to bed first gets the most rest and that's a definite advantage.
Ohio performed well in its first full day of competition as the Bobcats had 14 career-bests and 22 season-best times.
Ashley Marion had the Bobcats' first win of the meet when she took first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:04.38. Teammates Emily Wylam and Michaela Hahn-Lawson finished third (2:06.12) and fourth (2:06.17), respectively.
Another swimmer who performed well was Ilse Petersen who finished in second place in the 500-yard freestyle (4:53.00.)
Mallory Rico finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.73.
Petersen, Marion, Rico and Chelsey Bower combined to take fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.17.)
In the only diving competition of the day, Lindsay Hamilton, who had swept the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions six straight times, took seventh in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 251.55. 17
