Michelle Sauter and her teammates have traveled everywhere from North Carolina to Illinois to play since the season began, but they have yet to face an opponent at home.
That will change today when Ohio faces the University of Dayton in a doubleheader at the Women's Athletics Softball Complex.
Sauter said the Bobcats are excited to play on their home turf after a month on the road.
I think it's going to be really exciting
Sauter said. We've really been looking forward to playing on our own field.
The 'Cats (5-8) have come on strong lately, winning four of their last five games after losing seven of the first eight. Much of that success can be attributed to the way the team's execution, a priority for the team all season, said coach Jill Matyuch.
We're continuing to work on executing she said. I think that execution piece is huge and that's what we'll be keying on.
The Bobcats will have a major advantage over Dayton as the Flyers have yet to play a game this season. Dayton had its first seven games cancelled because of weather, something Ohio can relate to. The 'Cats had their games cancelled last weekend and took the field in practice for just the first time Monday.
More cold weather is in the forecast for today's game, but pitcher Natalie Armstrong doesn't think frigid temperatures will affect the team.
Honestly we've been through so much cold weather that I really don't think it will (affect us)
Armstrong said. I mean
we've been in North Carolina and it was freezing cold and we've come out on top
so I don't think it will be an issue.
