Tri-County Mental Health and Counseling Services is hosting events throughout the month of April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, aimed at educating the public about sexual assault prevention.
The Second Annual Women's Health Day, sponsored by the center, is tomorrow. Health providers from Athens and the surrounding areas will be speaking on a variety of topics, including STIs, self-defense and healthy relationships. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Athens Community Center, 701 E. State St. Free food and door prizes will be available.
A candlelight vigil will be Monday in conjunction with National Crime Victims' Right Week, created in 1981 by the Office for Victims of Crime, a component of the U.S. Department of Justice. The vigil will be at the Athens County Courthouse, 15 S. Court St.
