I am writing in regard to the article printed about OU's apparent plan in case an event as terrible as Virginia Tech should ever occur here. As I read this, I began to pay close attention to the classrooms that I go to everyday. In all honesty, I do not feel that these classrooms could possibly be safe if there was someone with a gun on campus. I realize that we cannot go through our lives with our tails between our legs, but I feel that McDavis has not fully informed the students of what this plan is.
We have been told by both him and Terry Hogan that there is a plan, but I have seen nothing definitive. If a gunman were to walk into a building, what would stop him from entering a classroom? How would the Ohio University and Athens police departments handle the situation? How would the university respond, and how quickly would the response be?
I believe these are questions that most students would like answered. It would put my mind at rest if the administration could let us know exactly what their plan is so we can get through our days at OU feeling a little more secure. Alex Levin is a freshman journalism major.
