After a canceled meet last weekend, the Bobcats are looking to catch NCAA regional qualifying marks.
This weekend, Ohio sends athletes to two meets. The top athletes will be going to the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., while a majority of the team competes at the Robert Morris Invite in Moon Township, Pa.
Scott Mayle made the regional qualifying mark in the long jump earlier this season at the Southern Ohio Cup. Coach Clay Calkins said that he sees more qualifying marks on the way for the whole team.
There's lots of people that are really close
Calkins said. You get into the right race and anything can happen.
Several athletes on the team came close to making the mark in their events at the Southern Ohio Cup on March 31.
Thrower Jessica Tanner said she makes it a goal every meet to get a qualifying mark.
This meet there's going to be a lot of good competition there so that will help Tanner said.
Last weekend the snow took its toll on the team, forcing the cancellation of the Bobcat Invitational in Athens. The lost meet gives the team one less chance to make a good mark, Tanner said.
