Undergraduate, graduate art exhibits showcase student work

Today begins the graduate sculpture thesis exhibition Collectively by Ohio University graduate student Winter Reiser at OU Art Gallery in Seigfred Hall. The exhibition is a collection of human-sized and larger-than-life mixed-media sculptures.

The artwork is reflective of the current time of abundance and mass production, Reiser said. The exhibition will showcase a wide range of media, including art using pennies and sponges, which represent different colors and scales of the environment, political art, and even two interactive pieces, Reiser said.

Each piece has its own underlying concept

Reiser said.

Collectively will run until Saturday with viewing hours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This week also is the opening of an exhibit featuring three OU undergraduate students' thesis exhibitions in the Trisolini Gallery in Baker University Center until April 28. Senior ceramics student Lauren Dombrowiak, who plans to show her figural work, will join a display of paintings created by fellow seniors Amanda Miller and Melissa Stamolis.

The ceramics portion of this event focuses on the earth and protection. Stamolis will display more organic, light and airy drip paintings, while Miller plans to show her representational, darker paintings, Dombrowiak said.

This exhibit also will run until Saturday. It is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 17
