In response to Alex Jabs' column, I would like to make a few comments.
First, for the record, as a senior in the twilight of my career at OU, I am not affiliated with, and have never pledged a sorority. I've enjoyed every aspect of my personal social pursuits, as I hope and imagine is the case with all OU students.
However, it is precisely Jabs' hasty generalizations and trite stereotypes that perpetuate the very social barriers on campus that seem to afflict her life so profoundly. Furthermore, as a fierce advocate for the tolerance of LGBT groups, her blatant narrow-mindedness toward another group is inherently inconsistent with the very principles she advocates.
