Women arrested after alleged burglary, kidnapping

Two women arrested Saturday after stolen items were found in their possession were arraigned yesterday in Athens Municipal Court.

Bond for Teresa Craft, 48, of Columbus, was set at $150,000. Bond for her alleged accomplice, Sheila McClellan, 41, of Nelsonville, was $100,000, a jail official said.

The women were arrested Saturday morning at a home in Chauncey after allegedly forcibly entering the home of a woman in The Plains, holding her hostage for almost two hours and robbing her, according to a news release from the Athens County Sheriff's Office.

Most of the allegedly stolen goods were recovered at the Chauncey residence, according to the release, which did not specify what the items were.

Craft is charged with three felonies: aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and kidnapping. McClellan is charged with two felonies, complicity to aggravated robbery and complicity to aggravated burglary.

Both women are being held at the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail. They are scheduled to appear in at 2 p.m. on May 22 in Athens County Municipal Court.
