Your Turn: Opposition with leadership based on 'cataclysmic plunge' in OU's reputation

In response to Amy Robison's letter printed May 14, charges of bigotry and racism are to be taken seriously, and the way in which Ms. Robison has flung them upon any who dare speak in opposition to President McDavis and the Cutler Hall brass is appalling. Such painting with a broad brush is stereotypical and unjust.

Undoubtedly, President McDavis has had to face some of the difficulties left behind by the Glidden administration. Disagreement with the current leadership has little to do with the color of one's skin, but rather the simple fact that no other university in the state has confronted such a cataclysmic plunge in its reputation throughout the last three years. Whether it is the breach of social security numbers, the cut of four varsity sports or the total disregard for the opinions of students, faculty, staff and alumni alike, President McDavis has much to answer for.

Far be it for us tax-paying and tuition-gauged students to demand accountability in those who seek power.

However, more appalling is Ms. Robison's egregious use of university and College of Education resources to promote her own biased agenda. Ms. Robinson went as far as to e-mail all College of Education majors and faculty, urging them to attend a rally in support of President McDavis. This is an unethical and offensive use of the university's resources.Chris Downey is a senior integrated social studies major.
