Robert Andrey, associate athletic director for business and external operations, is no longer associated with the Ohio University Athletics Department, director of athletics Kirby Hocutt confirmed Wednesday.
Hocutt said that issues pertaining to Andrey's dismissal are still under investigation and that he would not comment any further on the situation.
(Andrey's) actions were not consistent with our mission and our core values
Hocutt said.
Because the situation is still under investigation, Hocutt said he could not comment on whether Andrey was fired or if he resigned.
A search for Andrey's replacement is not being conducted, Hocutt said. Though he said it is unclear whether the position will exist in the future, Hotcutt added that he is looking to have a plan ready in a few weeks. Andrey was paid a $74,200 salary.
I'm going to give some thought on how to restructure the business end of the athletic department Hocutt said.
Andrey was part of a committee formed informally in the summer of 2006 to begin examining how to erase the athletics department's budget deficit. In January, Hocutt, along with Andrey and other committee members, announced that four sports ' men's outdoor and indoor track, men's swimming and diving and women's lacrosse ' would be cut to combat budget concerns.
Hocutt hired Andrey in Jan. 2006. Before coming to Ohio University, Andrey held a similar position for five years at American University in Washington D.C.
