Caitlin Explains It All: It's about time for some summer in September

The end of summer always brings a smile to my face because I know I'm returning to Athens. From the beautiful campus to hanging with friends to downing cheap drinks at the bar, it's always a great feeling to come back to Ohio University after a three-month hiatus.

But the end of summer always makes me frown because it's the end of summer. Although the weather feels like mid-July, it's not very pleasant to know you have to walk to class in the immense heat. It doesn't help that Athens is about a 10-hour drive from a decent beach.

So instead of packing away your shorts, bathing suits and flip-flops (oh wait, those operate year-round here) ' incorporate summer into your every day life. Dorm residents and off-campus students alike can benefit from a few simple things to make the best of the diminishing warm season.

Mostly associated with Spring Quarter, the stereotypical South Beach is a great place to start. Grab some friends and a volleyball or basketball and enjoy an afternoon of your preferred sport. Or if you actually kept up with your New Year's resolution to keep in shape, don a bathing suit and soak up some rays while there are still some left.

Or bring the beach to you. Bitwise Gifts, bitwisegifts.com, offers a little piece of paradise for your desk. Order the Office Vacation in a Box ' complete with a wooden deck chair, beach ball, umbrella, sand and a CD-ROM background for your computer G
