Following a Faculty Senate resolution earlier this week, Student Senate will either draft or reaffirm a resolution calling for changes to the presidential evaluation process.
After Ohio University's Board of Trustees adopted the current system of seeking input from campus constituent groups in April 2006, the senate passed a resolution encouraging the board to make the evaluation results entirely open and transparent
regardless of the results.
The Faculty Senate resolution, introduced at Monday's meeting, calls for a revision of the current process to make it more transparent. Barring a discussed revision, Faculty Senate's resolution recommends a boycott of this year's evaluation. In the current system, trustees conduct meetings with executive members of each senate to hear their evaluation of the president and will not accept any written evaluations.
This is a public institution funded with taxpayer money and our tuition said Will Wemer, senate treasurer. We have a right to know where this university is going.
Chris Diehl, academic affairs commissioner, introduced the topic for discussion and said that a resolution would most likely come up at next week's meeting.
Candidate on campus
The first candidate for vice provost for Diversity, Access and Equity will be on campus for an open forum this Monday, said Kent Smith, vice president for Student Affairs.
Executive Vice President and Provost Kathy Krendl announced the creation of the new office on Sept. 7. Currently, all departments report to David Descutner, interim executive vice provost.
The candidate will give a presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session. All students and employees are allowed to attend.

I have to write you up.'
