Craig Leon finished third at the Notre Dame Invitational Friday to earn a medal for the third time this year. Behind Leon, the men finished seventh out of 25 teams in the men's Gold Division, while Kari Summers led the women to a 15th-place finish out of 21 teams in the women's Blue Division in the most challenging meet thus far this season.
As a team
we were a little bit flat on Friday. We had some guys who ran well but there is certainly room for improvement Leon said. Everyone has been working hard during workouts the last few weeks
and I know that once we start to back off a bit
we'll be fine.
Ridge Robinson, Brian King, Shamus Eaton, and Todd Holbrook were the top Ohio finishers behind Leon.
The women were able to improve upon their 18th-place effort last year. Along with Summers, the top five Bobcats were Carime Reinhart, Annie Beecham, Julia Weisenborn and Melissa Horner.
Coach Clay Calkins was pleased with his team's performance, but at the same time, he said he knows there is a lot they can do better.
Both teams did a good job
and it was good to see where we are at nationally. There's always room for improvement
but I'm happy with our teams' performance
Calkins said.
The Bobcats have another opportunity to see where they stand next weekend as they compete in the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
