Ohio trails Buffalo 14-7 at the half

The Ohio defense picked up where it left off a week ago, as it allowed the Buffalo offense to have its way through the majority of the first half, both in the rushing and the passing game.

Buffalo averaged 104 yards rushing a game heading in to Saturday's game, but by the half the Bulls had already gained 116 yards, 71 coming from starting running back James Starks. All of the game's three touchdowns game on the ground with Starks putting the Bulls on the board first with a 1-yard run.On a drive in which he had eight carries for 35 yards, Ohio tailback Kalvin McRae added his own 4-yard touchdown run to even the score, but another Buffalo running back, Brandon Thermilus would score as well to give the Bulls a 14-7 lead.

The Bulls out-produced the Bobcats at the half, with 251 offensive yards to 101, as quarterback Drew Willy went 8-of-13 for 107 yards passing in addition to Buffalo's gains on the ground.

Ohio received a significant blow to its defensive efforts in the first half as well as hard-hitting safety Michael Mitchell left the game with an ankle injury.
