Women's Golf

The Ohio women's golf team's fall season ended Friday at what was supposed to be a competition in Cincinnati, but was cancelled due to darkness.

Only one group was able to play 18 holes before darkness made play impossible at the Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia.

Tee times started at 1 p.m. and participants in the event were to be Ohio, the University of Cincinnati, and IUPUI. However, the University of Dayton also showed up.

With Dayton entering the tournament, the tournament's organizers tried to push back the tee times to accommodate, but Dayton was unable to make it any earlier than 1.

Tough playing conditions also contributed to the cancellation. Ohio coach Jeff Hetler said extreme wind caused some poor play, which slowed the pace of the tournament.-

and then we'll get a long break Hetler said. That will give the me time to look back and see who our top six players were in the fall and that's who I'll take to the event in March.

Ohio's next event will be the Rio Verde Invitational, which will be played March 7-9 at the Rio Verde Country Club in Arizona. After this event, the Bobcats won't play again until April. Hetler plans on using this time to determine which players will make up his regular rotation for the spring season.

The fall season was great because everybody got a chance to play and contribute

Hetler said. I'm going to use the spring break between March and April to see who is practicing well and who is going to lead us into the spring season.
