We wish to thank everyone who attended the recent opening of The Bra Project: No 2 Are Alike. It was a great experience for all of the artists who, through this collaborative effort, found new friendships and were able to channel their creative energies into a project that captivated the hearts of many. This project brought to the forefront messages not only about breast cancer awareness, but also women's connective-ness to their bodies, their lives, their strengths and to each other.
For those of you that have not seen the show, it will be on exhibit at Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville until Oct. 22.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we thought you would like to know exactly how your donations would be used. Funds will be directed to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. This account provides much-needed funds for programs for breast cancer patients and survivors as well as research. To name a few: Reach to Recovery, which is a visitation program, and Look Good G? Feel Better (a wig and makeup program for cancer patients). This year, much support is going to The Sister Study, which is a research project that looks at the link between breast cancer and sisters. There is also a physician reminder program, where physicians would send a reminder to women when it is time to get their mammograms; this has proven to be very effective. Lastly, there are many projects that focus specifically on treating and curing breast cancer.
It isn't too late to make a donation. Direct your donations c/o The Bra Project, made payable to the American Cancer Society. Pandy Reiser, Treasurer for this project, will receive this mail at 24 Strouds Run Road, Athens, Ohio.
Thank you for your help and support in Finding a Cure.
