The Ohio Secretary of State is coming to Ohio University's Eastern campus in St. Clairsville to present information about a voting machine study and to listen to voter feedback.
Jennifer Brunner, secretary of state, will speak to voters in the campus auditorium at 7 p.m. about changes in the state's election systems as a result of a study performed earlier this year.
Local officials might come out too
said Patrick Gallaway, Brunner's spokesman. The main purpose is to listen to voters and get their feedback.
The secretary of state's $1.9 million study, called the Evaluation and Validation of Election-Related Equipment, Standards and Testing (EVEREST) report, assessed Ohio's election procedures and voting machines made by three different companies.
Based on the results of this study, Brunner recommended changes to Ohio's voting machines, such as eliminating the use of paper ballots, to Gov. Ted Strickland earlier this year.
Ohio University Eastern is the final of four stops on Brunner's town-hall meeting tour this week. The meeting is free and open to the public.
