About 300 people filled the Billiards Lounge of Baker University Center yesterday to question Chelsea Clinton about her mother's policies and experience.
Clinton reiterated to the crowd how proud she was of her mother's hard work as former first lady and as senator. She then spoke briefly on the key issues in her mother's presidential campaign before opening the floor to questions from the audience.-
she said. And I'm really proud that she's been supportive ever since.
The crowd applauded when Chelsea explained her mother's plan to make college costs less of a burden on students by increasing Pell grant awards and the number of people eligible for the grants.
She's also committed to getting rid of the FAFSA form she said. We never want anybody to be dissuaded from applying for aid because the process is cumbersome.
Clinton also discussed her mother's plans for a greener government, telling the crowd how proud she is that Hillary is the first person running to talk about green-collar jobs.
To sway the minds of voters torn between Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Clinton, the former first daughter explained to the crowd that her mother's time spent in office as First Lady gives her an advantage over Obama because she is already familiar with the inner workings of the presidency.
She tells you exactly how she'll pay for everything said Clinton.
Clinton's words and presentation seemed to strike a chord with the students attending the forum, which was hosted by Ohio University Students for Hillary Clinton.
Natalie Stapleton, a senior political science major, left the forum impressed with what the former first daughter had to say.
I think it's interesting that she's so involved with her mom's campaign and can speak so eloquently
said Stapleton. She didn't seem overwhelmed or afraid to say what she thought.
I have a lot of respect for Chelsea
said Roman Suer, a freshman undecided major who also attended the Bill Clinton rally on Monday. Unlike the Bush twins
she's actually doing something with her life.
