Pittsburgh's premiere modern dance company, Dance Alloy, will present Fragile
a collection of works that explores the tenuousness of humanity tonight, said Beth Corning, artistic executive director of the company.
Founded in 1976, Dance Alloy is a contemporary dance theater company. Its dance explores the human condition and is more theatrical than most dance genres.
This contemporary dance theater company is one of few in the country, said Corning, who has been with the company for five years.
Dance Alloy strives to break the fourth wall or the division between the audience and the stage, according to its mission statement.
Fragile will allow viewers to bring their own history to interpret the pieces. Every person sees the world differently, Corning said, which affects how the movements are understood.
You will come to see this concert and the person sitting next to you G? should have a very different take on what you see
she added.
This evening's performance will include a piece by Donald Byrd, who was nominated for his choreography in Broadway's The Color Purple. Corning said this piece receives many standing ovations, which is amazing because usually (the) audience won't get out of their seats.
