Impeached Senate vice president responds to charges, remains in office

The Student Senate vice president, who was impeached at Wednesday's meeting, said yesterday the discussion of the charges against her will help her improve.

Amanda Roder was impeached on two of five charges but was not removed from office. Her immediate removal from office would have required passage of the fifth charge ' gross and willful neglect of duty.

However, the senate could still vote to remove her from office at its last meeting of the quarter in two weeks, according to the senate's constitution. Removal from office, like impeachment, requires a two-thirds majority vote.

Obviously my removal from office was the last thing I wanted coming out of this

Roder said. It's nice knowing that many members of senate still had confidence in me and what I've done for senate in the last four years.
