An open letter to the rowdy Ohio University students at the OU-KSU basketball game Saturday:
Your outbursts were a bit annoying at first for those of us in the first few rows in front of you, but it soon became apparent you had prepared well and had some clever things to say. You did briefly shout over the ceremony honoring the senior KSU cheerleaders, but it didn't seem intentional. While I didn't like the personal comments directed at one or two KSU players, they handled it like men, so it wasn't a very big deal. Overall, you represented your school well and showed everyone some great school spirit. And the KSU fans didn't directly try to shout you down, but they did seem to be a little noisier than if you hadn't been there. There was even a chance for Grandma to give our six-year-old grandson a lesson about hospitality when he tried to shout back at you with references to the score. Bottom line: OU players seemed glad to have you there, KSU players responded well to the challenge and the game seemed harder-fought on both sides than it might have been without you. So, I'm glad you were present. It was fun for all of us. Please come back. One little request, however: how about sitting in a different corner next time, just to share the wealth?
