Fox News elects OU for primary party

The state of Ohio is receiving national attention for its importance in the presidential primaries tomorrow, and Ohio University won't be overlooked.

Fox News Channel has teamed with the Web site ThePalestra.com to host two primary results viewing events: one at OU, and the other at Texas A&M University.

There's a lot planned

said Sally Linder, senior director of media relations at OU. It's very exciting.

The OU event will be on the second floor of Baker University Center and is expected to begin at 5 p.m., Linder said.

Fox News anchor Shepherd Smith will host the Texas A&M event, which will be nationally televised. The host for the OU event has not been announced. Both events will be streamed live on Facebook, ThePalestra.com and Foxnews.com.

The OU event will screen Fox News coverage of the primary and performances by local bands including Smalltown Sleeper and DJ A-Roc. There will be free giveaways, information on the general election/candidates and food and beverages.

OU was chosen by the companies to host the event because of enthusiasm expressed by university administrators, said a spokesman from Fox News who asked not to be named because contracts were not final at press time.

FOX News Channel is a 24-hour general news service that has been the most-watched cable news channel for more than six years and is available to more than 90 million homes, according to its Web site.

ThePalestra.com selects college students from across the country to report on university news and culture and is a host for the next generation of broadcast television talent according to its Web site.
