After 32 years at Ohio University, John Kotowski, associate vice president for Facilities, announced last week he will retire effective Sept. 30.
Kotowski, who came to OU in 1976 as a planner, said he has been involved in Facilities his entire career, which included overseeing various construction plans and projects for the university.
My job responsibilities were dealing mainly with major renovation and construction over my tenure
he said. I think although my legacy is probably wrapped-up in the Facilities and the buildings I have been involved with actually my love of this place has been the people.
During his career, Kotowski's previous positions were director and assistant vice president of facilities planning and construction.
Kotowski said he has had the opportunity to work and be associated with great people inside and outside of the university and he will miss them and their dedication.
He said he is excited to retire, but it feels bittersweet because there are a lot of fond memories.
A good friend of mine said you know when it is time to do things and I feel it is the right time to do this
Kotowski said.
He said he does not have any plans but is taking the time to enjoy his life.
