The members of Two EB have deep roots in Athens, as is evident by the meaning behind the band's name.
The members of the now-Columbus-based band met while attending Ohio University in January 2006 and started playing parties under the Two EB moniker. Short for second Elliott band, the very literal name comes from where the band used to practice: the second floor of a house on Elliott Street.
It might be the worst band name ever
said drummer P.J. Schreiner, only half-joking.
What Two EB ' Schreiner, bassist Mark Cimarolli, lead vocalist and guitar player Brian Day, lead guitarist Ken Lutze and new addition Dave Brandeberry on keyboards ' might lack in a name, it makes up for with an eclectic mix of pop-rock music that will be on display tonight at the Blue Gator as the band hosts a CD release party for its EP, Carry On. The band chose to release its CD in Athens because of the large fan base it has accumulated over the years.
(Athens) feels like home to us said Lutze, the only member of the band who is still in school. - he said, but it was basically just plugging in and playing.-
Schreiner said.
Two EB is playing numerous shows in the Columbus area, as well as upcoming shows in Pittsburgh. Schreiner said that the band's main fan base is still in Athens, though, and he hopes to gain a few more tonight.
What counts is getting those few people that have never heard you before to jump on board
he said.
