Obama recently declined Clinton's invitation to a debate in Indiana.
Given Clinton's hardly lowball tactics I can hardly blame him. I was
wondering though, why don't candidates ever hold written debates? They
could be ongoing written discussions that could be published online and
in major newspapers throughout the campaign. Although there is
undeniably a lot to be said about being able to handle the huge amount
of pressure live television puts on a candidate, written debates would
allow for a more in-depth discussion and nuanced debate than some of
the TV debates, which sometimes feel more like a Pay-Per-View
professional wrestling match than an attempt to tackle dozens of
enormously complex issues which individuals spend entire careers trying
to dissect.
