City officials said they hope Ohio University will help pay for the fire department's roughly $1.4 million ladder truck following talks at last night's city council meeting.
OU might contribute, Mayor Paul Wiehl said, having spoken previously with OU President Roderick McDavis.-
Troxel said.
The city will need a new ladder truck in four years, Wiehl said.- Wiehl said.
The Athens Fire Department also requested a Chevy Tahoe or a Ford Expedition to replace the fire department chief's current vehicle.
The vehicle, which would cost about $33,000 including add-on equipment such as lights, will replace one of the two vehicles that the fire department uses for emergency responses, moving equipment between the two stations and errands.- Troxel said adding that he does not want a hybrid.
