Best in Bobcat Sports: Team of the Year

After bringing a Mid-American Conference trophy home for the second consecutive season, the Ohio field hockey team was selected as The Post's team of the year.

Under the guidance of coach Neil Macmillan, the Bobcats posted an 18-5 record on the year and frequently appeared in the Top 20 rankings of Division I field hockey. Ohio earned its second consecutive title with a 3-2 overtime victory over Miami in the postseason tournament.

The team even improved itself by one game over last year ' advancing to the sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament after a double-overtime win against American in the tournament's play-in game. The Bobcats then lost in the first round to Michigan, 1-0, in yet another extra-period contest.

Individually, the Bobcats thrived as well.

Goalkeeper Jessie Martin earned MAC Player of the Year honors, the third player to do so in Ohio field hockey history. Five Bobcats were named to All-MAC teams: Rachelle Coetzee, Nikki Gnozzio and Martin to the First Team; Torrie Albini and Estienne Coetzee to the Second Team.
