Ohio University has filled the position of executive director of the Center of International Studies.
Daniel Weiner, currently the director of the Office of International Programs and a geography professor at West Virginia University, will join OU on Aug. 1. He will replace Drew McDaniel, the interim director of the past two years. McDaniel will return to his former faculty position in the School of Media Arts and Studies.
I'm very pleased and excited to come to Ohio University
Weiner said in a news release earlier this week. OU has a long tradition of high-quality international programming and I'm honored to participate and provide leadership in this context.
Weiner has researched developmental geography, focusing on southern and eastern Africa. A recent project compared Appalachian and African regions.
The Center of International Studies is the only degree-granting center at OU, and boasts the largest graduate population with about 160 students.
Weiner will earn $135,000 this year. The interim director earned $131,534.
