A former associate dean of the college of arts and sciences, Harold Spike Molineu, will come out of semi-retirement in July to take over as interim dean of the Honors Tutorial College for one year.
Molineu currently teaches one quarter a year under Ohio University's early retirement program after retiring as a full-time political science professor in 2004. He has worked with HTC for more than 30 years, starting in 1973, one year after the college was founded.
Spike is a very students-centered person
said Ann Fidler, former dean of the honors tutorial college. My primary requirement for someone to be the dean in terms of my recommendation is that the individual had to have a strong track record with working with HTC students
and Spike will do that.
Molineu is not interested in taking the position for longer than a year, Fidler said, adding that he came out of retirement for a year to serve as interim dean. Fidler stepped down as dean earlier this quarter to take a position as interim provost for strategic initiatives.
Fidler made $95,766 this year.
Molineu started as an associate professor of political science in 1970 and specializes in U.S. foreign policy and international relations. Outside of OU, he worked in Brussels, Belgium,-
