After shooting 17 strokes lower during its second round of play, the Ohio men's golf team was primed for a big final round from Delaware Country Club.
The Bobcats, however, didn't fully capitalize, ending the three-round Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational with an 18-over-par 298.
Ohio finished in ninth place, hopping Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne during the last round.-
we didn't do as well as expected coach Bob Cooley said.- and we were also playing with a new format that made things different than usual.
The Ohio golfers all played together during the tournament, which deviates from the usual format when they play individually throughout the course.
Junior Tim Gusweiler was a standout for Ohio.-
Cooley said.-
Gusweiler said. That set me up well and allowed me to finish well throughout the course.
Other Ohio golfers had a hard time recovering after digging themselves into holes in the first round.-
Gusweiler said. The greens were small and we just didn't putt well
which has been the main issue with us in the last year.
Up next for the Bobcats will be their own Bobcat Open, which is a fundraiser, not an official NCAA tournament. It will take place on Monday from The Lakes Golf & Country Club in Westerville, near Columbus.
