After Athens County Commissioners appointed a new dog warden Thursday, the dogs weren't the only ones barking.-
Assistant Dog Warden Max Bishop said.
The commissioners chose Koons out of about 50 applicants because of his previous work with dogs as a judge for the United Kennel Club and several other competitions, Commissioner Lenny Eliason said.
As dog warden, Koons will supervise dog shelter personnel, manage shelter finances, coordinate volunteer programs, investigate animal abuse reports and care for the dogs, Clerk JoAnn Sikorski said.- instead of becoming a part of it he said.
