A Little Hocking man believed to be involved with a Coolville bank robbery and two fake pipe bombs left in the area this summer was arrested Sunday in Taylor, Mich., according to the Washington County Sheriff's office.
Patrick Slider, 44, was apprehended by the Michigan State Police about 20 miles outside of Detroit on his way to Canada, according to a Washington County sheriff's news release.
Slider had a loaded .25-caliber handgun in his possession shortly before his arrest.
Slider waived extradition Tuesday and is currently incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.
Slider told deputies he stole an SUV and a Toyota, where he placed pipe bombs as diversions for his robbery of $20,000 from the Hocking Valley Bank in Coolville July 29, according to the report.
Slider admitted to faking his own death at Mountwood Park in Waverly, W. Va. on July 31, according to the release.
Slider told deputies he took his blood through an IV over a 10-day period to deposit it around the park near with marks leading toward the lake.
Slider had been indicted by a grand jury in November for theft of drugs and receiving stolen property. He was released from jail after posting $60,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 11, according to the release.
The facts were submitted to the Athens County Prosecutor's Office for grand jury action, according to the report.
The Major Crimes Task Force, which includes Athens, Morgan and Washington county police, sheriff and law departments, worked together on this investigation.
