Seen: Pep talk
Head coach Ryan Theis gathered his team in the final minutes of Tuesday's practice, or as he calls it, cornering up.
The defeat suffered at home against Tulane was undoubtedly emotionally draining, but Theis, who thrives on energy, wanted to ensure that his team's attitude remains positive.
We are the best team
he told his squad to open the talk. We are the most talented the most skilled and the hardest-working team.
Theis also acknowledged that his team is the main focus for conference opponents beginning Friday.
This is the highlight of (MAC teams') seasons
Theis said. Their season goal is to come in here and beat us.
Overheard: Good first contact
Many of the Bobcats' problems against Tulane were fueled by an inconsistent first contact when receiving serves.
In common terms, that's the bump
followed by the set and the spike ' everyone's favorite.
Theis has worked hard with his defensive specialists, including libero Sarah Petrulis during practice to emphasize the importance of putting the ball in the right places.
Doing so, Theis said, makes the offense run more fluidly and puts the outside hitters in a better position to rip kills.
