Kelly Ovington is relatively pleased with what she has seen so far from her team.
After the first two events of the season, Ovington has watched four of her golfers shoot or equal their career-best rounds.
At the Penn State Invitational, junior Megan Curran shot a 75, while sophomore Jordan Fesh shot a 77.
More than a week later at the Cardinal Classic, Lindsay Bergman, the lone senior on the team, shot her career-best round with a 76. On the second day of the event her younger sister, junior Lauren Bergman, followed it with a 76.
Seeing so many girls reach their career-best rounds has been great to see
Ovington said.
The Bobcats have been improving since the start of the season according to Ovington and will look to do the same today when they tee off in Fairlawn, Ohio at the Zippy Invitational.
According to Ovington, the team's national ranking of 132 is 56 spots higher than last year's rank of 188.
Hard work and coming together as a team are two things that Ovington believes has helped the Bobcats.
I'm very happy with all the hard work they have been showing Ovington said. The team is really making progress.
Junior Colleen Lienesch said the coaches have been a big help for her and the entire team.
The coaches have been open to what we need to work on and have been more hands-on Lienesch said. They help us with both our strengths and weaknesses.
Lauren Bergman said she believes the team's new structure in practice has given them confidence as well.
We are now working on more specific shots and I think the different approach works well with us
Bergman said.
Last week at the Cardinal Classic, the team totaled scores of 312 and 314 on days one and two of the event, respectively.
We are still pushing to get under 310
Ovington said.
Ovington said she believes the team has been managing to do a good job and that they will only get better.
All the girls have great swings and they all have the talent
Ovington said.
