Charges were dropped yesterday against Asa Eslocker, an ABC producer and Athens High School graduate, who was arrested at the Democratic National Convention.
Eslocker was arrested in Denver when he and his crew were on a public sidewalk trying to take pictures of Democratic senators and donors.
I was only trying to do my job
trying to cover an extremely important aspect of American politics Eslocker said in an ABC News story. I'm glad this is over.
Police pushed Eslocker across the street from the hotel where politicians and donors were meeting, put him in a headlock and arrested him. Eslocker was charged with trespassing, interference with a police officer, and failure to follow a lawful order.
ABC has maintained since the arrest that it was unfounded because Eslocker and his crew were on a public sidewalk.
We are enormously gratified that the Denver city attorney has agreed to drop these outrageous charges said Jeffrey Schneider, ABC News senior vice president, in the ABC story.
