Ohio finished its road trip around the Mid-American Conference with mixed results.
They started the weekend with a Saturday win against Ball State and finished-
coach Neil Macmillan said. We caught an early goal and it turned into a good 4-0 game. I'm really excited by that.
(Yesterday), we didn't play as well as we needed to, and unfortunately, it cost us.
The scoring came early against Miami. Christine Brightwell put the RedHawks ahead at the 20:46 mark but Rachelle Coetzee scored just 83 seconds later off a penalty corner set assisted by Estienne Coetzee and Nikki Gnozzio.
However
Miami wasn't finished. The scoring finished just 23:36 into the game when Mary Hull one-upped the Bobcats off an assist by Elizabeth Gilroy.
(Yesterday) we just weren't composed enough out there, Macmillan said. Maybe it's my fault we weren't as prepared as we needed to be.
The coach made a point
however
to focus on the positives of Saturday's win as well.
We need to talk about our great game (Saturday), Macmillan said.
Those positives included a continued improvement of the team's offensive output. Rachelle Coetzee secured the lead early for the Bobcats
scoring just two minutes into the contest. Marcy Dull added to that advantage at the 43:43 mark.
Coetzee then followed a goal by Gnozzio just before the 60-minute mark
adding her second goal of the day just 99 seconds after Gnozzio's score.
The Bobcats scored four goals in two out of three games during its three-game win streak that was snapped by the RedHawks. Coetzee also increased her team-leading goal total to seven with three goals on the weekend.
It was a great effort by the team all around Saturday, Macmillan said. We created a ton of opportunities.
