Throughout the day, eight musicians from across the nation will use their music to encourage Athens residents and Ohio University students to vote in the upcoming presidential election. -
said Heather Cantino, program coordinator of Sing Out the Vote Ohio in Athens.- Heartwood said.
Holly Near, a performer and the founder of the statewide event, assembled all of the artists to perform.
The purpose of this event is to bring back the idea of people gathering and singing their hearts out for an idea. We want people to walk away from their technology for a while she said.
Tickets are available for the evening ARTS/West concert for $2, though higher donations are accepted, and will be used to pay for local event expenses and musicians' travel costs.
The musicians will be using [their] music to inspire
activate and energize people to vote
Cantino said.
