The Senate passed a bill Sept. 26 to reauthorize the budget of $510 million for the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) over the next five years.
Sen. George Voin-ovich, R-Ohio, wrote the Appalachian Regional Development act in 2002 to help fund the ARC and proposed this legislation to reauthorize the funding.
The ARC works on economic development in Appalachia, said Louis Segesvary, Public Affairs Director for the Appalachian Regional Commission.-
