Volleyball: Standins' play draws chuckles from Bobcats

Seen: Men's club volleyball players

Instead of the assistant coaches filling in the holes at practice on Tuesday, the Ohio men's club volleyball team volunteered two of its members to even up the squads.

Maybe they should've stayed home.

On his first swing, one of the stand-ins tried a little hot-dogging and shanked the ball onto the other side of the gym. It drew a few chuckles from the ladies.

For the most part, the guys held their own against one of the MAC's best teams and even showed some perspiration after the practice was over.

Both players were a part of the losing team which participated in a suicide run, a perfect way to cap-off practice.

Overheard: We're giving away points

Coach Ryan Theis became visibly frustrated when players began to commit service errors during practice, a trend that gave the team trouble in its weekend matches on the road.

Each team in practice had a list of things to accomplish before they could win the mini-scrimmage, and it didn't matter if they got to 25 points. If the list wasn't complete, the game went on.

Ohio's biggest problem was committing service errors coming out of timeouts, something Theis is seeking to cut down on before the team enters its third weekend of MAC play.
